Matthew Green, Assistant Professor, Johns Hopkins University. The past decade has seen enormous advances in the science of cryptography; yet the process of cryptographic module validation has become mostly stagnant. While this might have been acceptable in the past, in today’s threat environment it is completely untenable. In this presentation I will review some of the new threats faced by our cryptographic systems—including powerful kleptographic and state-sponsored attacks — and discuss how designers and testing labs must rise to meet them.
