Bridging the Gap Between the SP 800-90 Series and AIS 20/31 (N12c)

NIST and BSI have been in an ongoing process of harmonizing the SP 800-90 Series with AIS 20/31. Although the requirements are not identical, there are several pairs of random number generator constructions in SP 800-90C and functionality classes in AIS 20/31 that can be viewed as counterparts. To support designers to develop random number generators which fit to both schemes, NIST and BSI have drafted a joint document that explains similarities and differences of the counterparts in design and evaluation and compares the terminology. This talk explains the key features of this document.
