Micah Thornton
Biography
Micah Thornton is a PhD Biostatistician who graduated from the joint UTSW-SMU (University of Texas Southwestern – Southern Methodist University) Biostatistics program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Statistical Science (2017, SMU), a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (2017, SMU), a Master of Science in Computer Engineering (2017, SMU), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biostatistics (2021, SMU). He currently works as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at UT Southwestern, in the Lee Kraus Lab of the Cecil H. and Ida Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences.
Micah has extensive experience from his master’s degree program in developing methods for the generation of random values, having spent a considerable amount of effort in understanding modern statistical tests for quality of random values, their benefits, short-comings, applications, and potential for improvement. Since graduating from his master’s degree program, Micah has subsequently learned to apply his statistical knowledge surrounding sequence analysis to modern problems in biology and medicine, specifically problems in the subfields of genetics and genomics.
