Validating the Implementations of the “New” and “Old” Key Establishment Standards (G22c)
The recent NIST publications of new versions of the key establishment standards formed a complicated landscape for the CMVP, the implementers, and testers. The standards keep evolving, the new parameter sets are being added while others are becoming disallowed. The test tools do not always keep up with the rapid development of these standards.
In this talk we will show how the latest key establishment standards differ from the legacy schemes, justify a co-existence of the old and new standards, explain the relationship between the NIST standards and the IETF publications, and summarize the validation and testing rules. We will also present an update on the NIST transition to the next generation of the cryptographic algorithm standards.
