KMIP: Proof That Industry Interoperability Testing Delivers (S31b)
The publication of FIPS 203, 204, and 205 marks a step forward in enabling more consistent use of PQC algorithms. However, interoperability between vendor implementations remains a challenge. The OASIS Key Management Interoperability (KMIP) Protocol Technical Committee has run successful multi-vendor interoperability standards for over a decade.
This talk explores the approach taken by the KMIP Technical Committee to deliver true multi-vendor interoperability and how many vendors use this as a fast path to market penetration. The talk will also examine the issues facing PQC adoption, highlight the differences in approach, and apply lessons learned from years of KMIP testing to accelerate the testing and adoption of PQC algorithms.
