Novel EM/Power Side-Channel Countermeasure to Secure Multiplications (G23b)
Side channel attacks (SCA) exploit vulnerabilities in the hardware implementation of mathematically-secure cryptography algorithms. This talk discusses how to tackle differential power analysis (DPA) and differential electro-magnetic analysis (DEMA)-based SCAs by masking the security-critical multiplication operation, with minimal impact on performance. The proposed countermeasure can be applied to both operands during the multiplication operation. It can be used to secure public-key and post-quantum cryptography algorithms such as ML-KEM and ML-DSA which use multiplication operation.
