NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography: Status, Transition Guidance, and Next Steps (Q20a)

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has completed major milestones in its Post‑Quantum Cryptography (PQC) standardization initiative, an effort launched to ensure that cryptographic systems remain secure against the emerging threat of quantum‑capable adversaries. This talk provides an up‑to‑date overview of the PQC project, including the status of the various algorithms selected for standardization, as well as current candidates being evaluated. The talk will summarize recent draft standards, recommendations, testing and validation, and updates to NIST publications. Beyond algorithm selection, the talk will also focus on NIST’s transition and migration guidance.
