Making Stateful Hash-Based Signatures Usable: Revising SP 800-208 (Q22a)
NIST published SP 800-208 in 2020, allowing the use of stateful hash-based signatures based on a subset of the LMS and XMSS standards. However, some limitations put on these signatures in the standard turn out to make stateful hash-based signatures much less practical to use. NIST is revising 208 to fix these problems. In this talk, the speakers will discuss out current plans for 208 and the speakers’ timetable for revising it.
