Track Keynote: Transition to ISO/IEC 19790:2012 in JCMVP (C20c)
IPA/JCMVP is the validation authority of cryptographic module validation in Japan. IPA/JCMVP has started two-year transition period of cryptographic module security requirements to ISO/IEC 19790:2012 and ISO/IEC 24759:2017, from July 2018. IPA/JCMVP and a licensed laboratory started a cryptographic module validation using those standards, and its experience and feedback will be explained. Some of the feedback have been submitted as comments to Draft NIST SP 800-140. In coordination with the accreditation body in Japan, NITE/IAJapan, each licensed laboratory is audited during the transition period to see if it also has the technical competence to perform cryptographic module testing based on the new set of standards. The proficiency testing imposed focuses practical aspects on cryptographic module testing, while taking into account the content of new set of standards.
