The Use of /dev/urandom as the Entropy Source in the Real World (G22b)

Entropy sources, being the starting point of randomness, are closely scrutinized via their design documents, quality justifications, and health-checks as specified in government certificates. This talk will focus on /dev/urandom entropy source, which can be a solution on Linux platform. This presentation will highlight the common issues related to testability, entropy harvesting rate and size. Additionally, presenters will do a high level analysis of FIPS requirements to the use of /dev/urandom as the entropy source.
