The Technical Guideline BSI-TR 02102 (Cryptographic Mechanisms: Recommendations and Key Lengths) and Its Impact (C12b)
The BSI annually updates the technical guideline TR 02102, Cryptographic Mechanisms: Recommendations and Key Lengths, which provides cryptographic recommendations over a seven-year period. The TR 02102 consists of four parts, covering cryptographic algorithms in general, TLS, IPSEC and IKE, and SSH. Recommendations for post-quantum algorithms have been included since 2020. Although the TR 02102 is advisory in nature, it significantly influences other BSI technical guidelines and Common Criteria certifications. This talk highlights its key features.
