Some Approaches to Generate H_submitter for Periodically Sampled Ring Oscillators (N32c)

There are several important steps in developing a H_submitter estimate for noise sources based on periodically sampled ring oscillators. In this talk, I will identify several of the common stochastic models for ring oscillators, discuss the importance of which assumptions are chosen and their connection to the stochastic model, and outline an approach to extract important parameters from raw data. I will also discuss some of the challenges in constructing meaningful health tests for this design. What to Expect When You’re Expecting (to Assess the CPU Jitter Random Number Generator Against SP 800-90B) The Jitter Entropy Library has a long history of use, and has recently been modified to comply with the SP 800-90B requirements. In this talk, I describe an approach for generating H_submitter for a modern version of this library, and discuss several important configuration options that are relevant to the compliance of this design.
