Seminar on Hardware Attacks to Cryptographic Processors (W00c)

Seminar on Hardware Attacks to Cryptographic Processors (W00c)

In this course, we will review the main hardware attack families to integrated circuits (IC), from the physical manipulation of the IC and probing techniques to side channel analysis and perturbation attacks.

The course includes the theory of the attacks, and practical examples to help the assimilation of the concepts. During the workshop, the attacks presented will be focused against cryptographic hardware modules running AES and RSA, two of the most worldwide used algorithms for symmetric and asymmetric encryption, respectively.

At the end of the workshop, you should have acquired a basic view of the main hardware attacks, the risks they pose, and the typical hardware countermeasures implemented to thwart them.
