PQC – First Real Life Implementations (Q20a)
PQC has been around for a while. But, for the longest time companies focused only on proof of concepts, given the lack of standardization and Quantum Computers – with sufficient power to break todays cryptography – being a decade out. This has changed in the last 6 months. Companies now look for production ready solutions. This is driven by long term security needs for instance for firmware signing. Interestingly though, companies deploy different algorithms including stateful variants. The presentation provides an overview on real life PQC implementations using hardware security modules. It highlights the differences and challenges resulting from the algorithms of choice including stateful and stateless variants.
