FIPS In The Cloud Working Group (G11b)
Update to the CMUF Working Group, FIPS in the Cloud.
The working group was formed to create a pathway for vendors and labs to validate FIPS modules in 3rd party cloud environments. Currently, FIPS 140-2 IG G.17 specifically disallows remote testing of such a module. The working group is currently exploring various strategies for CPU equivalency and testing that work within the existing FIPS 140-2 testing framework.
LIfecycle issues for modules are not currently covered by the working group but from the Industry Group sponsored directly by NIST.
