Staying Active (and not Historical). FIPS Programmatic Algorithm Transitions by EOY and Early 2024 (C13c)
Triple-DES, Non SP 800-56B Rev. 2 RSA key establishment, RSA with PKCS v1.5 padding, FIPS 186-5 (X9.31) are among algorithms transitioning to Historical by the end of year or early in 2024. Many FIPS certificates will be affected and potentially transition to the Historical list if no action is taken. This talk will seek to identify red flags for cryptographic modules with offending algorithms across all FIPS levels. It will also dive into soft vs. hard transitions depending on the algorithm or FIPS 140 revision. Finally, this talk will include a description of revalidation scenarios and example fixes to streamline the submission process with your preferred FIPS lab.
