Simple and Effective Steps to Achieve Quantum Safety Today (Q13b)

As estimates for the migration time to post-quantum cryptography grow and milestones in quantum computing technology accelerate, it is worth noting that many cryptographic systems are not quantum vulnerable, and others can be made quantum secure with simple, effective measures following IETF recommendations. This talk will cover why some forms of cryptography are not at risk from quantum computation and why protocols such as Kerberos and 3GPP’s MILENAGE are not quantum vulnerable. In conclusion, there will be a description of how some quantum vulnerable protocols such as IKEv2 and TLS can be operated in a quantum safe manner following proposals such as those in RFC 8784 and RFC 9258.
