FIPS Inside by Carolyn French, Manager, Cryptographic Module Validation Program, Communications Security Establishment
This presentation discusses how products are incorporating FIPS 140-2 modules to meet Government FIPS requirements. It will also navigate the world of bound and embedded modules. Carolyn French is the Program Manager of the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) at the Communications Security Establishment (CSE), where she has worked as a Security Architecture Engineer since 2006. Prior to joining CSE, Ms. French worked at Nortel Networks, where she held the position of Senior System Architect in the CTO office of Nortel’s Network and Service Management product line. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Systems Design Engineering.
An Overview of OpenSSL by Tim Hudson, CTO and Technical Director, Cryptsoft Pty Ltd.
This presentation will cover what the OpenSSL Project is doing, who’s on the project team, recent major policy drafts, the project roadmap, and includes information about FIPS. Tim Hudson has been actively involved in network and system security for more than 20 years, providing him with extensive experience in the practical application of security architectures to real-world problems. Tim co-founded Cryptsoft and the SSLeay project (now OpenSSL) in 1996 and went on to become co-founder of RSA Security Australia in 1998. Tim has successfully guided the FIPS 140 validation of multiple cryptographic toolkits and is both CTO and Technical Director at Cryptsoft. As a partner in the OpenSSL Software Foundation, an OpenSSL team member and as co-editor and core contributor across the OASIS KMIP and PKCS#11 technical committees, Tim is a respected expert in both the open source and standards based security and encryption fields.
